“Mandh” :- In kodava thak, it’s a outdoor space set apart as a sacred area of Kodavas by race. All the very important sacramental, traditional and customary activities in the village will be celebrated in the ‘Mandh’. Take for instance; it’s the seat of justice and all such other things. All the major decisions are taken up in the Mand and when a certain thing has been decided to be done in the ‘Mandh’, it has to be followed by the villagers.
“Patti”:- It’s the ground around the ‘Mandh’ where in are celebrated all the cultural activities and heroic deeds of the Kodava race of any given village. In ancient times, marriage celebrations were also held in the Pattis.
Organization Aim
Since the western ghats encompasses the whole of Kodagu/ Coorg district and the government and certain interested parties are trying to obliterate the very existence of what is nature in the western ghats, this organization had first taken shape in the year 1992 only in order to preserve, protect and develop the mother nature in its grandeur as it used to be in ancient times.
Nowadays the governmental departments and certain self style NGO’s with and idea of ekaking out personal gains have been trying to introduce one or other plans and programs and unnecessarily publisize such things and in the bargain render the western ghats, especially the forests what all available naturally in the forests. With an intention to call a stop to such illegitimate and immoral activities and try to maintain the virgin forests, Kalachanda Mr. U. Ravi Thammaiah the founder president of the organization had been fighting truth and nail in order to implement the desired goal envisaged by the organization and he has been inching forwards towards the same, needless to add that there has been unwanted and unethical opposition from governmental departments, NGO’s and money backs.
The Road starting from Madikeri/ Mercara until the point it reaches the most picturesque gazebo of Mandalapatti had been laid only on account of the indomitable and irresistible pressure made by this gentleman. Nowadays taking up the cue from the once who are indulging in making money by establishing resorts, dhamas and stay homes are in a race to acquire vacant space in Mandalapatti are and otherwise corrupt officials are keen to help such once by immortal methods.
